Vijay Kumar & Brothers

We’re located over at 25 Gill High Tension Road here in Vadodara H O. It’s a busy spot, especially with the high tension lines nearby humming when it’s quiet at night. The business is run by me and my brothers as Vijay Kumar & Brothers. We’ve had our fair share of disagreements over the years about how to run the place, but somehow we’ve stayed together. Our father always told us that family comes first, even when you’re talking about work. The shop itself is a bit of a mix. We have some old equipment that still works perfectly and some newer things we’re still figuring out. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing person. Most of what we do is just straightforward manual work and providing parts to people in the area. The office is just a desk in the corner with a lot of loose papers and empty chai cups. It gets pretty dusty because of the road outside, so we’re always wiping down the counters. We usually open up early before the sun gets too high. In Vadodara, the heat can be something else in the afternoons. We see a lot of the same faces every week. People stop by to see what’s new or just to ask if we can help them with a project they’re working on at home. We take it one day at a time and try to keep the machines in good shape so we can keep going.
