Our place is basically a big warehouse full of metal. We deal with steel strips and tubes all day long. It’s heavy work, and the sound of metal clanging against metal is what we hear from morning till night. We don’t have much of an office, just a small desk tucked away in the corner where we keep the ledger and the phone. Most of our time is spent on the floor, moving stock around and making sure the dimensions are right. It’s a tough environment, especially when the sun hits the tin roof in the summer, making the whole place feel like an oven. We just drink plenty of water and keep the loaders moving. There’s no point in making things sound better than they are; it’s a grit and grime kind of job. We’ve been in Focal Point for years, and we’ve seen shops come and go, but we just keep doing our thing with the tubes and strips. We focus on getting the orders out to the trucks on time. It’s not glamorous, but the industry needs these materials, and we are the ones who supply them without making a big fuss about it.
