Shahzad Husain

Our spot is in the Duggal Complex, right near Gulati Chowk in Model Town. If you live around Ludhiana, you probably pass this way a lot. It’s a busy corner, especially in the evenings when everyone is out. Opposite us is P K Corner, so that makes it easy for people to find where Shahzad Husain is located. The shop itself is pretty basic. There are chairs, some mirrors, and the usual tools for hair cutting and shaves. It isn’t some high-end lounge where you get coffee; it’s just a place to get a decent haircut without too much fuss. I’ve been working here for a long time, and I know most of the faces that walk through the door. Some guys have been coming to me since they were kids, and now they bring their own sons. We talk about the weather, the traffic on the main road, or whatever is happening in the news. The fans keep spinning all day because it gets quite warm inside when we have three or four people waiting on the bench. I try to keep things clean, sweeping up the hair after every customer, but when it’s a Saturday, it’s hard to keep up. It’s just how a neighborhood shop works. We open up early and stay until the last person is done. Nothing fancy, just regular work for regular people who live around Model Town and need to get their hair sorted.
