Our business, Sant Ram Vinod Kumar, is right at Vishvkarma Chowk on the G.T. Road in Miller Ganj. If you know Ludhiana, you know this is a very busy area. There is always noise from the trucks and the traffic on the main road. We have been here for a long time, and the building shows its age a bit, but it is sturdy. We mostly deal with trading and the day-to-day business of the market. It is a crowded place with lots of other shops and businesses all around us. We have boxes stacked up and people coming in and out all day long. It is a bit chaotic at times, but we have our own system for keeping track of everything. The office is tucked in the back where it is a little quieter, though you can still hear the horns honking outside. We drink a lot of chai throughout the day to keep going. We know all the other shopkeepers around the Chowk. We talk about the prices and how the market is doing. It is a very traditional way of working. We do not use much fancy technology, just the basics to get the job done. Our customers are mostly local folks who have been buying from us for years. It is a simple, honest way to make a living. We close up when the sun goes down and head home like everyone else. The dust from the G.T. Road gets everywhere, so we are always cleaning the counters. It is just part of being in Miller Ganj.
