We’ve got our shop at Plot 40 in Hari Nagar, just off the Chandigarh Road in Mundian Kalan. It’s a busy spot with lots of traffic passing by all day. We do engineering services, which basically means we fix things and fabricate parts for people who need them. It’s a dusty place sometimes because of all the grinding and welding we do. We’ve got some lathes and a few other machines that stay busy most of the day. There’s no air conditioning in the main work area, so it gets pretty warm in the summer, but we’re used to it. We mostly deal with local businesses and people from around the neighborhood. If someone brings in a broken part, we see if we can weld it or make a new one. It’s not fancy work, but it’s how we make a living. We don’t wear suits here; it’s mostly just work clothes that get stained with oil pretty fast. We open up early in the morning and stay until the work is done. Sometimes we have a lot of orders piled up, and other days it’s a bit slower. We just take things as they come. There’s a small desk in the corner for bills and talking to customers, but we’d rather be at the machines. It’s a straightforward business, nothing too complicated about how we run things. The floor is concrete and has some cracks, and there’s always a pile of scrap metal in the back corner.
