R S Mechanical Engineers is located right in the middle of Industrial Area A, just off Old Chhani Road. If you come by, you’ll probably hear the noise before you see the sign. It’s an old building, and the floor is stained with oil from years of fixing machines and putting things together. We don’t have a proper cooling system, so in the summer, we just open all the big bay doors and hope for a breeze. The air smells like metal and grease, which is something you just get used to after a week. There are tools everywhere—wrenches, hammers, and parts that we’ve pulled out of engines or pumps. It’s a hands-on kind of place. We don’t wear suits here; it’s mostly just work shirts that have seen better days. Our desks are covered in greasy fingerprints and scraps of paper with measurements scribbled on them. Old Chhani Road can get pretty clogged with trucks, so getting parts delivered sometimes takes longer than we’d like. We just take it in stride and keep working on whatever is on the bench. There’s a certain rhythm to the work, the clanging of metal and the hum of the lathe. We aren't trying to be anything other than a shop where things get fixed. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know how to do best in this little corner of the industrial area. It keeps us busy and out of trouble.
