Gurdeep Gears is tucked away in Lane-2 over in Janta Nagar, right off Gill Road. It’s an area where you hear the sound of machinery almost everywhere you go. Our place is no different. We have been working with gears for a long time, and the shop has that specific smell of grease and cut metal that stays with you. It’s a small operation compared to some of the big factories, but we like it that way because we can keep an eye on everything ourselves. The building isn’t much to look at from the outside, just a typical workshop door that stays open most of the day to let a bit of a breeze in. Inside, the machines take up most of the floor space. We spend our days measuring teeth and checking tolerances. It’s precise work, even if the floor is a bit stained from years of oil. Sometimes we have to shout over the noise of the grinders to talk to each other. Janta Nagar is a tight-knit spot for businesses like ours, and we’ve gotten to know the neighbors well over the years. We don’t have a website or anything like that; people usually just hear about us from someone else in the trade and show up at the door. If you come by, just look for the lane with the most scrap metal outside. It’s honest work, and we enjoy the challenge of getting a gear just right.
