Our place is down in the basement of the Parbhjot Complex over in Ghumar Mandi. It is a bit tucked away since you have to go down the stairs, but people in Ludhiana know where to find us. We are quite close to Pearl Palace, so that helps people get their bearings. Being in a basement means it stays a little cooler than the street level, which is nice during those long Punjab summers. We have the beauty section and the hair section set up. It is not a huge space but we make it work with what we have. Sometimes the lighting is a bit dim but we are used to it. The walls have a few old posters on them. We spend a lot of time cleaning the combs and making sure the chairs are comfortable for whoever sits down. Ghumar Mandi is a busy market area, so there is always noise from the vehicles and shoppers up above. We start early in the day to get everything ready before the rush. It is a simple setup with honest work. We don't use any of those big corporate words to describe what we do. We just cut hair and help people look a bit neater. It is a family-style vibe here. Most of our customers have been coming to this basement for years and they know exactly where the water cooler is and where to hang their bags. We like it here. It is our spot.
