The shop is tucked away at 4 Gill Sunder Singh Market. If you haven't been here before, Precision Tools India can be easy to miss because the market is so packed with stalls and people. We’ve got shelves stacked high with everything we’ve collected over the years. It’s not organized like a big supermarket at all. You have to know where to look. Usually, I can find what a customer needs just by memory without looking at any list. My hands are almost always black from the metal dust. We open up early, usually before the sun gets too hot for the metal work. The market gets very loud around noon. You hear the shouting of vendors and the constant horns of the rickshaws right outside our door. We don’t spend money on fancy uniforms or bright lights. The bulbs we have are a bit dim, but they work well enough for the work we do. Most of our tools are for people who know exactly what they are doing. They don't need us to explain things. They just point at what they want and we get it for them. Sometimes we sit on the wooden crates and eat our lunch while the fans hum overhead. It’s a bit dusty, but it’s our space and we are used to it. We’ve seen the market change a lot over the years, but number 4 stays the same. We just keep the door open.
