New Guru Nanak Light & Tent House

We set up shop on Rahon Road near the G I D C Industrial Estate quite some time ago. New Guru Nanak Light & Tent House is mostly about packing and unpacking trucks. It’s a lot of heavy lifting with the iron poles and the thick fabric for the tents. During the busy season, we’re hardly ever in the office because we're out at different sites setting things up for people. The warehouse is stuffed with rolls of carpet, strings of lights, and folded tents. It looks like a mess to an outsider, but we know where everything is. Rain is always a bit of a headache for us because we have to dry everything out before packing it away again. We’ve had the same crew for years, and we’ve seen all kinds of events. Sometimes things get hectic when two jobs happen at the same time and we have to split the gear. We don't really do the flashy advertising thing. People just know our name from seeing our trucks around the neighborhood. It’s physical work and your back definitely feels it by the end of the week. We just try to make sure everything is loaded up correctly so we don't forget a single light bulb or stake. The Rahon Road traffic can be a pain when we’re trying to get the big trucks out, but we manage somehow. It’s just us doing what we’ve always done for the community.
