Mahalaxmi Brick Works

My family has been at Mahalaxmi Brick Works for a good while now. We are tucked away near Samrala Chowk on 2860 Link Road. If you know the area, it gets pretty busy around there with all the trucks and local traffic. Our yard at Plot No-B-23 is usually covered in red dust, which is just part of the job when you make bricks. It is hard work, mostly outdoors, and the weather really dictates how much we can get done in a week. When it rains, everything slows down, and we just have to wait it out. We spend most of our mornings checking the kilns and making sure the stacks are right. It’s not a fancy setup, but it works for us. People around here know where to find us if they are building a wall or a small house. We don't have a big office or anything, just a small desk and some old chairs where we handle the paperwork. Most of the day is spent outside with the guys. The traffic on Link Road can be a real headache in the evenings when everyone is trying to get home. We try to get our loading done before the rush starts. It’s a simple business, really. We make the bricks, people buy them, and we keep the yard running. Sometimes the machinery acts up, but we fix it and keep going. That is just how it is for us.
