Mahajan Tools Store is tucked into the Guru Nanak Dev Market at 41317 Gill. It’s a lively spot to be, especially on market days when the foot traffic is heavy. The shop is filled from floor to ceiling with boxes of every kind of tool you can think of. We probably have too much stock, but we like to be prepared for whatever someone might ask for. It’s a bit of a maze inside, and sometimes we have to move three boxes just to get to one drawer. The counter is usually cluttered with catalogs and loose change. We’ve been in this market long enough to know all the regulars who come in looking for a specific bolt or a new hammer. It gets quite dusty because of all the cardboard, so we spend a lot of time wiping things down. There is a small fan overhead that wobbles a bit, but it helps during the humid afternoons. We don't have a big sign out front, just the name and the address. Most people find us by word of mouth or because they were already in the market for something else. Dealing with customers all day keeps us on our feet, and there is never a dull moment with the noise of the street right outside. We just open up early, drink our coffee, and start sorting through the daily deliveries. It is a crowded space, but it’s where we feel most at home.
