Lena Modern Rice Mill

Lena Modern Rice Mill is tucked away in Islam Ganj, specifically at Shop No. 97 in the Prem Nagar area. It is a busy part of Ludhiana where there are a lot of small shops and houses all mixed together. When the machines are running, you can hear the hum of the mill from down the street. It is a loud place to work, but you get used to the vibration after a while. We get big sacks of raw grain brought in on carts or small trucks. Most of the day is spent watching the husks come off and making sure the rice is clean. The air inside always has that dusty, sweet smell of grain. It is hard work and your clothes end up covered in white dust by the end of the shift. We have been in this spot in B-14 for quite some time now. Neighbors often stop by to say hello or ask about the prices for the week. The streets around here are narrow, so getting the big bags moved around takes some coordination. We use old scales to weigh everything out. It is not a high-tech operation, just the standard way we have always done things. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait around, but otherwise, the mill stays busy. We are just one of many small businesses in this part of town, trying to keep the machines in good shape and the grain moving through the system every day.
