You can find Kushwaha Trading Co. at B-24/1480, Gali No. 6 in Kirpal Nagar. We are right near the Gurudwara, so we hear the prayers and the music every single day. It’s a nice way to work. The lane is quite narrow, so getting big deliveries in can be a bit of a headache for the drivers. We often have to carry things by hand from the main road. It keeps us fit, I suppose. The shop is small and packed to the rafters. We don't have much in the way of decoration. There are just shelves, some old wooden counters, and a calendar on the wall that's usually a month behind. We trade in a bit of everything. People come to us when they can't find something in the bigger markets. We have a lot of regular customers who live right here in the neighborhood. They stop by on their way home to see what’s new or just to say hello. The atmosphere in Kirpal Nagar is very local. Everyone looks out for each other. We try to do the same. If someone is short a few rupees, we just catch up next time they come in. It’s not a corporate way of doing things, but it’s how we’ve always operated. The evenings are the best time, when the heat finally dies down and the street gets lively with people out for a walk before dinner.
