K B Machine Tools

You can find our workshop over at 428 in Industrial Area B, right near Partap Chowk. Being in an industrial area means there is never any silence. There is always the sound of someone grinding metal or a truck backing up somewhere nearby. We deal with machine tools, so our space is filled with heavy equipment and various metal-cutting instruments. It’s a big, high-ceilinged room that gets cold in the winter and stays pretty hot in the summer. We spend our days checking the precision of the tools and making sure everything is sharp and ready for use. We aren't big on decorations; the walls are just bare brick and some old calendars. Most of the people who come to see us are looking for something specific for their own factories. We talk a lot about specs and tolerances, nothing too exciting for most people, but it is what we know. Sometimes we have to move heavy crates around with a manual jack, and that takes up a good portion of the afternoon. We usually have a radio playing in the background to drown out some of the noise from the street. It’s a straightforward business. We don't make a big deal out of what we do. We just make sure the machines are taken care of and the customers get their orders on time. It is a solid way to make a living, surrounded by iron and steel every single day.
