Jagdev Mechanical Works

Jagdev Mechanical Works is situated on the G T Road. We are in the Hari Nagar area, close to where the Anjanapura Post is. Being on the G T Road means there is never any silence. Trucks and buses go by all day and night. It's a very busy part of town. We do mechanical jobs here. Our hands are usually dirty by nine in the morning. The shop is full of parts and old components that might come in handy one day. We don't throw much away. The ceiling is high and the floor is hard. We have a few fans to keep the air moving, but it still gets stuffy. People know us because we are near the post office. It's a good landmark for people who get lost. We don't use any fancy technology for our records, just a big ledger. It’s old fashioned but it doesn't break. The work is steady and repetitive most of the time. We see people from all over because of the road we are on. It's a grit and grime kind of life, but it suits us. The gate out front has a bit of rust on the hinges. We keep a water cooler in the corner for the hot afternoons. Just a group of people doing a job.
