Guru Nanak Tent House & Caterers

Our base is in Giaspura, and if you’ve lived around here for a while, you’ve probably seen our trucks moving around. We do the tent setups and the catering for all sorts of local events, like weddings or small religious gatherings. It’s a very physical job, mostly involving hauling heavy iron poles and large rolls of fabric in the back of the pickup. We keep all our gear in a big shed that’s honestly a bit of a mess, but we know where everything is. The catering side of things is even more chaotic, especially when we’re cooking for a few hundred people at once. My cousins and I do most of the work ourselves, from putting up the colorful tents to making sure the food is served hot. We don’t have a fancy office where you can sit and look at catalogs. Usually, people just come to the warehouse or call us on the mobile to talk about their dates. The fabric for the tents gets stained and dusty from the Giaspura roads, so we spend a lot of time cleaning it between jobs. It’s a tough way to make a living, especially during the peak wedding season when we barely get any sleep. We just focus on getting the job done so the families can have their celebration without worrying about where their guests will sit or what they’ll eat. It's just a lot of lifting and cooking.
