Eastman Cast & Forge Ltd.

Our company, Eastman Cast & Forge Ltd., is right on Gt Road near the airport. It’s a big, grey building that looks like every other industrial unit in this part of town. We’ve been here for quite some time now, and the building has definitely aged along with us. The roof leaks a tiny bit in the far corner when there’s a heavy downpour, but we just move the equipment out of the way and carry on. That’s the way things go around here. You just deal with whatever comes up. The proximity to the airport means there is a constant hum in the air, but inside the forge, the noise of the work is much louder. We spend our hours cutting, shaping, and moving heavy parts. It’s not the kind of job where you stay clean for long. By the end of the shift, everyone is usually covered in some amount of grease or soot. We have a small yard out back where we keep some of the raw materials and old parts that we might need later. It’s a bit of a jumble, but we have our own system for finding things. We aren’t big on meetings or long discussions. We usually just figure out what needs to be done over a quick cup of tea in the morning and then get to it. It’s honest work that keeps us busy from Monday through Saturday. We don't ask for much more than that.
