Eastman Cast & Forge Ltd.

Working out here on G.T Road near the airport means we hear planes taking off all day long while we’re busy with the forging. Eastman Cast & Forge Ltd. has been in this spot for a good bit of time. The heat from the furnaces is something you just get used to after a few weeks, though in the summer, it’s really something else. We spend most of our time looking at molds and making sure the metal is pouring right. It’s a gritty job, and our clothes usually show it by lunch break. The traffic on G.T Road can be a nightmare when we’re trying to get shipments out, but that’s just life in this part of town. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't; we're just a bunch of people making parts. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we spend half the day fixing it with grease up to our elbows. We eat our lunch together near the back where it’s a bit cooler. There’s always someone complaining about the noise or the commute, but we keep showing up. It’s a solid place to work if you don’t mind getting your hands dirty and dealing with the heat. We don’t have a big fancy lobby, just a desk and some chairs where we talk about the day’s schedule and try to stay on top of the orders coming in. It is just a normal everyday metal shop.
