Deboniar Hair Saloon

This shop is over in Haibowal Khurd on the Gas Agency Road. We are right near the government school, so in the afternoons you can hear the kids shouting and playing when they get let out. It’s a lively neighborhood to work in. The shop is a small room on the main road. We have a couple of mirrors and some shelves that we built ourselves to hold the combs and the spray bottles. The chairs are old-style ones with the metal levers, and they still work perfectly fine even after all these years. We spend a lot of time sharpening the razors on the leather straps. In Ludhiana, the weather changes quite a bit, so we have to deal with the heat or the cold as it comes. We don't have a big sign, just the name on the wall. The floor is mostly covered with hair by noon, so we keep the broom handy in the corner. We get all sorts of people, from the school teachers to the guys working at the gas agency down the road. It’s a friendly place, but we don't talk too much if the customer wants to just sit in silence. We keep the towels in a stack near the sink. Sometimes the water pressure is a bit low, but we make do with what we have. It’s just a normal day-to-day business for us here.
