Bhoday Agriculture Works

Down on Doraha Hill Road, near where it meets Ramdas Naik Road, is our workshop. It is a place where there is always the sound of metal hitting metal or the hum of a welding machine. We spend our days covered in a bit of grease and iron filings because that is just how the work goes. There are half-finished plows and tractor parts scattered across the yard, waiting for their turn to be fixed. It gets quite hot under the tin roof when the sun is out, but we keep the big doors open to catch whatever breeze comes by. People bring in their broken equipment hoping we can make it work for another season. We don't have a front office with air conditioning; we usually just talk to customers right there on the shop floor. Most of our tools are old but they still do the job better than the new flimsy ones you find these days. There is always a pot of tea going somewhere in the back for when we take a short break. It is heavy work and our hands are never truly clean, but there is a satisfaction in seeing a machine go back out to the field in working order. We have piles of scrap metal in the corner that we use for patches and small repairs. It is just a regular workshop doing what needs to be done.
