If you go down to Vishwakarma Chowk and head into Roshan Market, you will find us at 1 G T Road. Ashoka Tools & Bearing Co has been in this spot for years, right in the middle of all the market chaos. It is a small space, mostly filled from floor to ceiling with boxes of bearings and various tools. There is hardly enough room for two people to stand in the aisle at the same time. We spend a lot of our time climbing up and down ladders to find the right box for whoever walks in. The market is always crowded with people and carts, so getting things in and out can be a bit of a struggle. We do not have any air conditioning, so we just leave the front open and hope for a breeze from the street. The noise from the chowk is constant, with the buses and the rickshaws always moving. Sometimes we sit on the front step when things are quiet and watch the people go by. It is a very old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works for us. We know exactly which shelf has what, even if it looks like a mess to anyone else. The walls are stained from years of handling greasy parts, and the floor is worn down from all the walking. It is just a small market shop where we spend our days dealing with whatever comes through the door.
