Our group is based at Ramotar Singh’s place in the village of Bhawanipurkhass. It’s right near the Budhanpur post office in the Aliganj area. We’ve lived here all our lives, so we know every corner of these fields. The company is basically just a way for us local farmers to manage our crops together. We spend most of our time out in the sun, not sitting behind a desk. When we do gather at the house, it’s usually to talk about seeds or who’s got a tractor available for the week. It’s a very practical arrangement. We don’t have fancy signs or a big lobby. It’s just a village house where the business gets done. My neighbors and I realized a while back that doing things as a group made more sense for the paperwork and the selling part of farming. The weather is always a gamble, and some years are definitely better than others. We handle everything from the planting to getting the harvest ready for transport. It’s hard work and your hands are rarely clean. Most people in Bhawanipurkhass are involved in farming one way or another, so we all understand the struggle. We just try to keep things moving along and make sure everyone gets a fair shake. There's no mystery to it. We just get up early, do the work, and try to prepare for whatever the next season might bring. It’s a simple life, but it keeps us busy every day.
