We are based out of Bibipur, over near Banthara in Lucknow. Brijesh Kumar Singh’s place is where we mostly get together to figure things out. Most of us around here are just local farmers with small patches of land we’ve worked for a long time. Nanha Bibipur Farmer Producer Company Limited was basically started because trying to buy supplies or sell what we grow on our own was getting harder every year. It’s much easier when a few of us talk and decide things together. We aren't some big city business with a glossy office. Our meetings happen right where we work, in the dusty lanes of the village or under the shade when it’s too hot out. There’s always plenty of work to do with the soil and the seasons. Sometimes the rain doesn't come when it should, and other times there is too much of it, but that is just how life is in Uttar Pradesh. We deal with the crops that make sense for our soil here. We try to keep things simple and honest. If a neighbor needs help with their harvest or some advice on seeds, we are right there. It’s not about being the biggest, just about making sure our families can get by. People know us by name around here. If you come looking for us at the address in Banthara, you’ll just see us working. That’s who we are. We don't have much in the way of fancy equipment but we make do.
