Jatin Hosiery Industries

The workshop is on the first floor over in Sanath Nager. If you walk by the building, you can hear the hum of the knitting machines coming through the windows. We have stacks of yarn in every corner and there is always lint floating in the air. It gets stuck to your clothes no matter how careful you are. We focus on basic hosiery stuff like socks and undergarments. It is not the kind of place that looks like a showroom. There are threads all over the floor and the lighting is a bit dim in the back. We have a few long tables where we sort the finished pieces and pack them into plastic bags. The stairs up to the first floor are narrow, so moving the big boxes of finished goods down to the street is always a bit of a chore. We have a small crew and most of us have been working together for years. We know the rhythm of the machines by heart. When a needle breaks, everything stops until it gets fixed. It is greasy, loud, and sometimes very tiring work. We do not have a fancy website or a big sales team. We just make the hosiery and send it out to the local markets. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down.
