Our lab is located at 203/5 in the I.D.A. at Cherlapally, Phase-II. Being in an industrial development area means we are surrounded by other factories and plants. It is a very functional environment. Inside the lab, we spend our time with various pieces of equipment and testing samples that come in. It is a lot of careful work that requires a bit of patience. We wear our lab coats and follow the procedures we have set up over the years. It is not the kind of place that looks very interesting to an outsider, but there is a lot of science happening every day. We handle a variety of tests, mostly looking at chemical compositions or quality control for different materials. The air in Cherlapally always smells a bit like industry, which is something you get used to after a while. We have a small break room where we sit and talk during our lunch hours. The team is quite close because we have worked together for a long time. We do not have any fancy mission statements on the walls. We just focus on getting the results right and making sure the data is accurate for everyone. Some days the machines act up and we have to spend time fixing them, which can be frustrating. But mostly, it is a steady routine of testing and recording. It is a practical place for people who like to work with their hands and their heads. (259 words)
