Our little shop is right there in the Municipal Shopping Center, right across from the main gate of Indirabai Girls High School. If you are waiting at the St Bus Stop, you can probably see our sign. It gets really loud when the school bell rings and all the kids come out. We spend most of the day inside Shop No. 2, surrounded by all the items we’ve gathered. It’s a small place, so we have to be careful where we step. There is always someone walking past on St Road, so it never feels lonely. Sometimes the bus exhaust comes in through the door, which isn't great, but you get used to it. We don't really do big advertisements or anything like that. Most people just find us because they are already in the area for the school or the nearby center. We keep the shelves as full as we can, even if it looks a bit cluttered to an outsider. Every morning we sweep the front because the street gets dusty with all the traffic. It’s just how things go in this part of town. We’ve been here for a while and know most of the other shopkeepers around the center. We share tea and talk about the weather or how the buses are running late again. It's a simple way to spend the day, just looking after the shop and talking to whoever wanders in. It's not a big corporate store, just our place.
