Down here in Ajrakhpur, things move a bit slower than in the big cities. We are out in P.O. Paddhar, in the Ta area. It’s a quiet place where you can mostly hear the wind and the occasional tractor. We spend our days working on the different crafts that this region is known for. The sun gets really hot in the afternoons, so we usually take a longer break then. Our workshop isn't anything special to look at, just a sturdy building where we keep our tools and materials. There is always a bit of red dust on the windows because of the dry ground outside. We don't have many neighbors close by, so it’s peaceful for the most part. Most of what we do involves a lot of waiting for things to dry or set. It’s not the kind of work you can rush. We eat our lunch together under the shade of a tree if there's a breeze. Sometimes visitors come all the way out here to see how things are made, and we show them around the workspace. It’s a simple life, focused on the textures and the smells of the materials we use. We don't use fancy machines for most of it. It’s just hands and a bit of patience. That’s how we've always done it here in Paddhar. Sometimes we have to walk a bit to get supplies because things aren't right next door. It keeps us moving and in good shape.
