Navneet Bhojnalay & Catros

Our place is on Hospital Road, right across from the GEB Head Office. We call it Navneet. It’s a bhojnalay where people come to eat simple meals. We also do catering for small events if people ask. The building has been here for a long time. Because we are near the hospital, we get a lot of families who are visiting patients or doctors looking for a quick bite. We try to keep things quiet and clean for them. The kitchen is in the back and it’s usually quite hot in there during the summers in Bhuj. We use metal plates and basic spoons. It’s the kind of place where you just sit down and eat what’s fresh that day. We don’t have a lot of decorations on the walls, just a few calendars and maybe a clock that’s a few minutes fast. My father started this and now I’m running things with a couple of helpers. We buy our vegetables from the market nearby every morning. The catering side of things keeps us busy on the weekends. We load up the van with big steel pots and head out to wherever the party is. It’s a lot of washing up afterward. We aren't trying to be fancy, just serving the neighborhood. Some days are slow, others are a rush, but we just keep at it.
