Shaik Cements

Out here on Guntakal Road, things move pretty fast with all the traffic going past Pattikonda. Our place at number 63 is easy to spot if you’re looking for it, but if you blink you might miss the turn. We spend a lot of time just watching the trucks go by while we wait for the next customer. It gets pretty loud with the engines roaring outside, so we usually have to shout a bit when we’re talking. Shaik Cements has been around this area for some time, and we’ve seen the road change quite a bit over the years. We mostly handle cement, obviously, and the warehouse is filled with that specific smell of dry concrete. It’s a lot of lifting and moving, which keeps us in shape I guess. We have a small crew and we all know our roles. When a customer pulls up, one of us goes out to see what they need while someone else starts clearing space. We don’t spend much time on the computer or anything like that. Most of our work is done with our hands and a notebook to keep track of what goes out. It’s a simple life, really. We open up early, sweep the floor, and get ready for whatever the day brings. Sometimes it’s quiet, and we just sit and drink tea while looking at the hills in the distance. It’s not a fancy job, but it’s what we do.
