Priya Cement Factory

If you head down Railway Station Road in S S Colony, you'll run right into us. Priya Cement Factory has been a fixture here in Dhone for a good bit of time. It's a dusty job, but someone has to do it. We spend most of our hours around the machinery and piles of raw materials. Being so close to the station makes things easier for transport, though the noise is something you just get used to after a while. Most of the guys here are from right around the neighborhood. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It's just the yard, the bags, and the noise of the trucks coming and going. Sometimes things break down and we spend half the day fixing a conveyor belt, but that’s just how it goes in a place like this. The dust gets on everything, even inside the lunchroom. We supply local builders mostly. It’s heavy work, lifting and loading all day. When the sun is out, it gets really hot on the shop floor. We just keep our heads down and get the bags filled. People in Dhone know the name because we’ve been at this spot for years. It’s not a glamorous life, but the cement we make helps build the houses and walls around here. We just try to keep the machine running and the orders moving as best as we can without too much trouble.
