If you walk down Market Road in Bejjur, you’ll find us at H. No. 4-57. Bejjur Farmers Producer Company Limited is pretty much what the name says. We are a group of people from the Adilabad area working together to get our crops to market. Being right on Market Road is handy because everything happens right outside our door. It gets very loud and crowded on market days, which can be a bit overwhelming, but it’s where the action is. We spend a lot of time sitting in the office, looking at ledgers and talking to members who drop in. It’s not always organized perfectly, and there’s usually a lot of shouting back and forth to get things done. We don't have a big fancy office with air conditioning. It’s just a simple room where we handle the business of the collective. Everyone here knows each other, so it feels more like a community center than a formal company. We deal with all sorts of crops depending on what time of year it is. Sometimes the harvests are good, and sometimes they aren't, and we just have to manage either way. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't; we are just local farmers trying to make a living in Adilabad. It’s a tough life but it’s what we know best, and we keep showing up every morning to do it again, no matter how hot it gets outside.
