We called ourselves Thisai Kaati because we wanted to find a better direction for the farmers in this part of Krishnagiri. It is mostly just us local folks trying to organize things so we do not get the short end of the stick when selling our produce. Farming life is tough, and the sun does not show any mercy during the summer months. Most of us have been working the land since we were young children. We meet up at the office to discuss prices and who is planning to grow what next season. It is a very informal thing, really. We do not wear suits or have big meetings with fancy slides. It is mostly just sitting around with a cup of tea, talking about the pests or the rising cost of fertilizer. The address is easy to find if you know the area. We have had some good years and some lean ones, but being together makes the lean years a bit easier to handle. My neighbor handles most of the phone calls because he has a better signal at his house than I do. We are just trying to keep the tradition of farming alive without losing everything. The community here is tight, and that is what keeps this company moving forward every day. We just take it as it comes.
