About Hirsch Watch Straps Pvt. Ltd. – Metals & Minerals in Krishnagiri
Out here at Plot No. 45 in the SIPCOT Industrial Complex, things are always moving. We’re Hirsch Watch Straps, and as the name says, we spend our days making those little leather bands for watches. It’s a bit of a drive to get out to the industrial complex every morning, but it’s where all the space is. The workshop is big and filled with the sound of cutting machines and stitching. Making watch straps is funny because they are so small, but they take a lot of steps to get right. You have to be careful with the edges and the holes. We have a good group of people sitting at the benches, working on the leather pieces. It’s not a quiet place, but it’s a productive one. We aren't trying to change the world, just making sure the straps are sturdy enough for people to wear every day without them snapping. The canteen nearby is where most of us grab lunch. Sometimes we run low on a certain color of thread or a specific buckle, and then there's a bit of a scramble to get more. That’s just life in a factory setting. We keep the place as clean as we can, but leather scrap tends to get everywhere by the end of the shift. It's honest work, and we've been doing it at this location for a decent stretch of time now. We just stay busy.
