Dharmapuri & Krishnagiri Pasumai Farmer Producer Company Limited

We're out in Periyadhappai Village, which is a bit of a drive if you aren't from around here. Our office is at house number 4/568, close to the Jittandahalli Post area. This company covers folks from both Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri. It's a big area with a lot of different kinds of farming going on. Most of us grew up with dirt under our fingernails. We saw our parents struggle with the markets and decided maybe we could do it a bit differently by working together. Pasumai is what we call it, and it's really just a way for us to manage our produce without getting lost in the shuffle. The village is quiet, but there's always something to do on the farm. We meet up when we can to talk about the water levels or which seeds are working best this year. It isn't always easy getting everyone to agree on things, but we manage. We handle all sorts of stuff, from mangoes to grains, depending on who’s harvesting what. We aren't some big city operation with a marketing team. It’s just us farmers trying to make a living and keeping the land productive. Sometimes the rain fails and sometimes the crop is too big for the demand, but that's just farming. We stay at it because it’s what we know. Being in Periyadhappai keeps us close to the ground we work.
