Purayil Poultry Farm LLP is located out in Karimbil, which is part of the Anakkampoyil area in Kozhikode. You have to head towards Kakkottu Parambil to find us. It’s a farm, so don't expect anything too neat or quiet. There is always something going on with the birds or the feed deliveries. We started this because we wanted to run a decent poultry operation right here in our own backyard. It is a family-type of business, really. We don't have a human resources department or a fancy receptionist. Usually, whoever is closest to the phone or the gate handles whatever comes up. The days start early here, long before the sun is fully up, because the chickens don't wait for anyone. We spend our time checking the sheds, making sure the birds are healthy, and getting everything ready for the local shops. It is dusty and sometimes it smells like a farm should, which isn't always pleasant, but that is the reality of the work. We’ve had some tough times with the heat and the price of grain, but we just keep at it. People in Kozhikode need fresh poultry, and we are happy to be the ones providing it. We aren't trying to become some massive national chain. We just want to keep the farm running well and support our families. It’s a simple life, mostly, and we prefer it that way.
