Our small office is tucked into Room No 7 28 over in Kallachi. It’s a quiet part of the area near the Manachamtharavalayam post office. Payyanad Farmers Producer Company Limited is mostly just a group of local people trying to make sense of the farming market. We aren't a big corporation from the city. Most of us have dirt under our fingernails at the end of the day. The building isn't new, but it works for what we need. We sit around the table and figure out how to help the farmers get a fair deal. It’s hard work because the prices for crops go up and down so fast. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit and talk until it comes back. That’s just how it goes here in Kallachi. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. We just use our phones and talk to people face to face. If you come by, you might find us drinking tea and arguing about the latest harvest. It’s a real place with real problems and real successes. We handle the paperwork, organize the collections, and try to stay ahead of the weather. It’s not always easy, but it’s what we know. We’ve been here for a while and the neighbors know us. We are just part of the local landscape, doing the daily grind like everyone else.
