Our place is the Meethale Veettil house in Karumala, which is part of Balussery. The house has been around for a long time and we use part of it for our institutions. It has a very traditional feel to it, being an old residential structure rather than a modern office block. We are located at 2/458-B and most people in the village know exactly where that is. It is a bit tucked away from the main road, so it stays relatively peaceful. We have some basic classrooms set up with benches and old wooden desks. It is not air-conditioned, so we keep the windows open to catch the breeze. Sometimes the local kids play outside and it gets a bit noisy, but we don't mind. We handle a lot of different tasks here throughout the day. Our staff is just a few locals who have been with us for a while. We don't wear uniforms or have a formal reception desk. Usually, someone is just sitting in the main hall ready to talk to whoever walks in. The rain can be a problem in the monsoon because the yard gets muddy, but that is just how it goes in Kerala. We have a small garden out front that we try to look after when we have time. It is a humble setup and we are quite comfortable with how things are.
