Government Vocational Higher Secondary School

Government Vocational Higher Secondary School in Atholi has been part of this community for quite a long time. You can find us right on SH38, near the Kinarullakandy area. It’s a government-run spot, so things are pretty straightforward here. We have older students who come in to learn trade skills and finish their secondary education. The building is large and has that old school feel to it, with long hallways and high ceilings. Since it is a vocational school, we have workshops where students get their hands dirty learning practical things. It isn’t always the quietest place with the sounds of tools and kids talking between classes. We see a lot of students from the surrounding villages coming in on buses or cycles every morning. The staff room is always full of tea cups and piles of papers. We don't have any of those modern glass walls or fancy lounges you see in city schools. It’s just concrete and wood. The grounds are quite big, so there’s plenty of space for the kids to hang out during lunch. People in Atholi know us well, as most families have sent at least one child here over the years. It’s a practical place for practical learning, and we just keep things moving along day by day. We don't need much more than the basic supplies and some willing students to keep the doors open and the classes running.
