Newlite Marbles

We are located in Narikuni, which is a bit of a drive from the main part of Calicut. The yard is usually full of marble blocks that we bring in. When it rains, which it does a lot here, the ground gets pretty muddy and we have to wear heavy boots. It is just a local business where we show people different slabs for their floors or kitchens. We don't do much advertising because people just know we are here. The office is just a desk in the corner of the warehouse. We spend a lot of time measuring things and writing numbers down on scraps of paper. It gets humid in the afternoons so we take it a bit slow then. Sometimes the marble has cracks or patterns that people don't like, so we have to move things around with the crane to find the right piece. It is heavy work and my back feels it by the end of the day. The neighbors are mostly quiet and we try not to make too much noise with the loading. We have some tea in the mornings and then get to work. It is not a polished place, just a working yard with stone everywhere. We stay until the trucks are all gone and the gate is locked for the night. That is the routine every single day.
