Our place is right on Bank Road, just across from the Vyapara Bhavan. Kozhikoden'S Bakers And Exporters is a name that’s been around for a bit. We do two main things: we bake stuff for the local folks and we package things up to send further away. It’s a busy building. Downstairs you have the smell of the bakery, and upstairs or in the back, we’re dealing with boxes and shipping labels. It can get a bit chaotic when a big order is going out at the same time the morning rush hits the bakery counter. We don't have a fancy lobby. Most of our space is taken up by ingredients or shipping crates. The staff here mostly grew up in the area. We know the local tastes well, which helps with the baking side of things. Exporting is more about paperwork and making sure the trucks are on time. It's a lot of work and the hours are long. Sometimes the flour dust gets everywhere, even in the office area. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to do our jobs right. Bank Road is a good spot for us because it’s easy for people to find. We just keep our heads down and stay focused on the orders. It is a mix of being a local shop and a bigger shipping business, and that keeps every day interesting. We just keep moving forward with the work.
