Abdurahman Smarakam U P School

We are here on Panniyanoor Road in Chendayad. The morning starts early before the sun gets too high. You can see the kids walking up the road, some with bags that look a bit too heavy for them. Abdurahman Smarakam U P School has been part of this neighborhood for a while now. The building is simple, just walls and roofs that keep the rain out during the monsoon. We spend a lot of time just keeping things running, fixing a desk here or painting a door there when we have the time. It’s not fancy. The teachers arrive on their scooters and the noise of the road is always in the background. Sometimes a cow wanders too close to the gate and someone has to shoo it away. The classrooms get a bit loud during the breaks, but that's just how it is with so many children in one spot. We don't have big flashy signs. It’s just us, the local families, and the daily work of getting through the lessons. Usually, by mid-afternoon, the heat starts to settle in and everyone is looking forward to the bell. Then the road fills up again with parents and cycles. We lock the gate and head home, just to do it all again the next day. It’s a quiet life here in Chendayad, mostly focused on the basics and making sure the kids have what they need for the day.
