The Windsor Castle & The Lake Village

We are situated right at the Gateway of Kumarakom, which is a pretty busy spot for people coming to see the water. Being here in 686039 means we deal with a lot of humidity and greenery. The Lake Village part of the name really just refers to how spread out we are near the edge of the backwaters. It is a lot of ground to cover every day. We spend a good chunk of our time just trimming the plants and making sure the paths are clear. It is not a quiet job. There is always something that needs fixing or a boat passing by that makes a noise. We are not one of those places with a million rules. We just show people where their rooms are and let them be. The staff here mostly speaks the local language, but we get by with everyone else. Sometimes the rain comes down so hard you cannot see the lake, and we all just wait it out under the porch. It is a bit of an older setup, so do not expect everything to be perfect. We have lizards on the walls and the occasional bug because we are so close to the water and trees. That is just how it is in this part of Kerala. We keep the kitchen going from early morning until late, mostly cooking what people around here usually eat. It is a lot of work but it is what we do.
