S L Tradelinks

S L Tradelinks is located on Arpookara Road in the Panampalam area. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here if you aren't from the neighborhood, but it’s a good spot for what we do. The road can get pretty dusty in the summer and muddy when the monsoon hits. We spend most of our time in the warehouse area, moving boxes and checking the inventory. It’s a lot of lifting and shifting things around. The building isn't anything special, just a solid place to keep the goods safe. We don't have a big staff, so everyone chips in with whatever needs doing, whether it’s answering the phone or helping to load a truck. There’s a small porch where we sit sometimes when the weather is nice, watching the bikes go past on Arpookara Road. We try to keep things organized, but when a big shipment comes in, the whole place gets turned upside down for a few days. We don't use any fancy computer systems for everything; a lot of it is still recorded in big ledgers or on slips of paper. It’s a straightforward way of working that suits us just fine. Most of the local traders know us by name, so we don't really need much more than that. It’s just about getting through the day’s trade and making sure the orders are ready for the morning. We close the doors around six.
