Umed Bhawan Palace

If you find yourself over in the Furniture Industrial Area, you’ll eventually run into us on Palace Road. Umed Bhawan Palace isn't exactly what people expect when they think of a typical industrial zone, but that’s where we are. The stone walls have been around for a long time, and they’ve seen the city change quite a bit. It’s a big old building with high ceilings and those heavy doors that take a bit of effort to push open. We spend a lot of time just keeping the dust off the floors, which is a never-ending job given the location. The garden area is a nice change from the shops nearby, and we try to keep the grass green even when the heat in Kota gets to be too much. It’s not just a workplace for us; it’s a place where we’ve spent most of our years. We see a lot of people coming through for different reasons, some just curious about the architecture and others here for a stay. The rooms are large, the kind they don't really build anymore, and they have that specific smell of old wood and history. We don't do much in the way of big announcements or fancy signs. Most people find us because they know the road or someone told them about the palace. It’s a bit of a landmark in this part of town, even if the industrial noise is right outside the gates.
