If you find yourself in Gumanpura, you might pass by 18 D. That is where Rajiv Kumar Bazari is set up. It’s a busy area, lots of traffic and people moving about at all hours of the day. The building itself has its own character, the kind you only find in older parts of the city. We spend most of our time inside, tucked away from the noise of the street. It is a straightforward setup. There are no big signs or flashing lights, just the name and the work. Inside, it’s mostly just files and the sound of people working. Rajiv is usually around, making sure things are moving along like they should. The space is a bit cramped when everyone is in at once, but we make it work. Gumanpura can be a bit of a maze if you aren’t used to it, but 18 D is a steady spot for us. We’ve grown accustomed to the rhythm of the neighborhood. The morning starts with the sound of shutters opening nearby and ends when the streetlights come on. It isn’t a glamorous place, but it is our place. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t.
