Blooming Buds Children School

Down in Mahaveer Nagar Extension in Kota, things are usually moving at a steady pace. Blooming Buds Children School is tucked away at 2 A 14, right in the middle of where people live. It’s a neighborhood school, so we see the same faces every single day. The children arrive on their bicycles or their parents drop them off on scooters right at the gate. We have a small area where they gather for their morning prayers before heading into the classrooms. The rooms themselves are simple, with posters of the alphabet and some maps on the walls that might be a little faded from the sun. Kota is known for being very hot, so we spend a lot of time making sure the water coolers are full and the fans are working. We don't have a big fancy office; it’s just a desk with a lot of registers and a bell that we ring to signal the end of each period. During the lunch break, you can smell the different foods coming from the kids' tiffin boxes. It’s a very normal, everyday kind of place. We don’t spend money on big advertisements because most people just hear about us from their neighbors. It’s just about teaching the basics and making sure the kids are safe until their parents come to pick them up in the afternoon. It’s simple and it works for the families who live around this part of Rajasthan.
