About Bhairaba (Junior) College – Education in Koraput
Our college is out in Borigumma, which is part of the Koraput district. It’s a bit of a trek for some, but for the local students, we’re right where they need us. We’ve been here for a while, providing a place for those finishing their earlier schooling to continue. The building is quite simple, and it stands out a bit in the Borigumma area. We don’t have much in the way of fancy equipment. We rely on the teachers and the textbooks to get the job done. Life at the college is pretty quiet for the most part, except during the breaks. The students here come from all over the surrounding villages. You see them arriving on cycles or walking down the road every morning. We just try to provide a decent environment for them to study their subjects. It’s not a big city institution with thousands of students. It’s a local junior college where everyone basically knows everyone else. We deal with the weather, the dust, and the occasional power cut, just like everyone else in Koraput. We just want to see these kids finish their courses so they can move on to whatever is next for them. There aren't any big speeches or grand promises. We just open the doors, teach the classes, and lock up in the evening. It's an honest day's work for everyone involved. Sometimes the rain makes the ground a bit muddy, but we manage. It is a quiet existence here, but it feels important to the community.
