Sri Vandana Traders

Our little shop is No. 3-11-92 in Parapur Village. We are under the Gangavathi Post Office, and this whole area is part of the Gangavathi Taluka. It’s a rural place, mostly surrounded by fields and small houses. Sri Vandana Traders is where we spend most of our waking hours. We opened this shop to trade in local goods because that’s what everyone in Parapur does. It’s a small space, and we keep it packed with bags and containers. The floor is made of old cement and the shelves are just wooden planks we put up ourselves. We don't have a big staff, just me and my brother most days. People from the village come in to talk about the prices of crops or just to catch up on the news. We get our mail from the Gangavathi post office once or twice a week. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find fancy displays. We just have what people need. The district can be quite dry, so we spend a lot of time talking about the rain. We know almost everyone who walks through the door by their first name. It’s a local business in every sense of the word. We work six days a week, sometimes seven if someone really needs something on a Sunday. It’s how we’ve always done it here in the taluka. We aren't doing anything special, just helping our neighbors get what they need for their farms and homes.
