Shiva Cement Industries

Our place, Shiva Cement Industries, is out in Koppal, Karnataka. If you look up the 583231 area, you’ll find us there. Cement is a heavy business, and things can get pretty dusty around the site. We deal with the bags and the bulk stuff that people need for building things. The landscape around here is quite open, which is good because we need the space for the trucks to turn around. Most of the people working here are from around this part of Karnataka. We speak the local language and understand how the construction season goes with the rains and the heat. It’s not the kind of job where you wear a suit. We’re usually in boots and rough clothes because of the dust and the lifting. We have a routine of checking the stock and making sure the loaders are working okay. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to fix them ourselves on the spot. It's just how it goes when you’re running a small cement operation. We don't have a big corporate office; our office is just a small room near the gate where we keep the ledger books and the phone. People come by to ask about prices or delivery times. We try to be helpful without making things sound more complicated than they are.
